Preliminary Knowledge: | Knowledge of theory of sport, pedagogy, sports pedagogy, sports didactics, psychology or sports psychology, anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. Knowledge, skills and abilities in one of the figure skating disciplines is required. | ||||||||
Objective: | To promote the education of highly qualified specialists – senior athletic discipline coaches who would successfully plan, organise, lead and evaluate the study – training process, study – methodological classes and competitions in accordance with the rules of figure skating and standard requirements for the profession of senior athletic discipline coach. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Students deepen their knowledge of subjects learned during lectures by performing six independent works, developing the content of figure skating competition programmes for athletes of different ages and evaluating the performance of competition programmes of 3 athletes. Independent works should be presented during seminar classes, but the content of the elements of competition programmes and evaluation of programme performance should be presented individually. The final assessment is the average of the summative assessment of all types of work. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | The total assessment is summative. Independent learning – technical elements and their teaching. Creating programme content. Evaluation of performance of competition programmes. | ||||||||

Knowledge: | 1. Knows the nature, execution criteria of the technical elements of figure skating – steps and turns, and the methodology of teaching them. 2. Knows the nature, execution criteria of the technical elements of figure skating – jumps, and the methodology of teaching them. 3. Knows the nature, execution criteria of the technical elements of figure skating – twists, and the methodology of teaching them. | ||||||||
Skills: | Knows how to define 6 types of jumps, 6 groups of twists and 4 types of turns and steps according to the ISU criteria. | ||||||||
Competencies: | 1. Uses different study methods in the process of mastering and training of elements of figure skaters according to the abilities of students. 2. Knows how to select and use different technical elements of figure skating in creating the content of figure skating competition programmes. 3. Able to evaluate elements of figure skating competitions according to the ISU criteria. | ||||||||
