EIT Health Hub
In 2018, RSU joined the Regional Innovation Scheme in the area of health, which is managed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology's Health Knowledge and Innovation Community (EIT Health). The University currently serves as the EIT Health RIS Hub in Latvia.
The goal of the hub is to enhance health innovation capacity in Latvia. Its activities seek to engage various regional stakeholders in EIT Health programmes and develop regional innovation eco-system through the integrated knowledge triangle model.
EIT Health, a European public-private partnership in the area of healthcare, was established by more than 150 partners representing the leading European companies, universities, research and development centres, hospitals and other organizations. The role of this partnership is to build a future healthcare eco-system that will enable European citizens to live longer and healthier lives. EIT Health upgrades the skills of healthcare professionals throughout Europe by investing in Europe's best talents and facilitates the commercialisation of innovative health products/solutions within the EU.

The first EIT Health Morning Health Talks of the year took place on 6 June 2024. The event focused on Open Innovation Journeys: Collaborative Pathways, Alliances and Networks, getting an insight into open innovation alliances and how these alliances can contribute to the secondary usage of healthcare data: data sharing in open innovation.
The Workshop on Health Development Projects took place in Valmiera at the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences on 5 April 2024 with the aim to promote the development and implementation of interdisciplinary research and innovation projects in the regions.
- Events in 2022 & 2023
Monitoring of various health indicators, personalised nutrition plans and reminders about the most important health checks-ups - these are just some of the solutions created by students to improve public health. Students from all over Latvia met at the i-Days event in Riga on 26-27 October 2023 organised by the health community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Health), at which they searched for ideas for preventive health.
The second event of this year's EIT Health Morning Health Talks series took place on 21 September 2023 in collaboration with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Latvia. The theme of the event was innovation as an engine for longevity.
The EIT Health RIS Hub participated in the Startup Community Forum organised by the Latvian Startup Association Startin.LV on 29 August 2023.
The first EIT Health Morning Health Talks of the year took place on 14 June 2023. The topic of this talk was medical professional training for smart healthcare practice.
On September 9 2022, the EIT Health Hub participated in the Startup Day forum organised by the Latvian startup association Startin.LV. The presentations outlined the opportunities for start-ups that EIT Health offers.
On 30 June 2022, the first of the EIT Health Morning Health Talks of 2022 took place. The topic of this talk was the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on digital health care.
