The RSU Institute of Public Health invites you to attend a guest lecture by MD DrPH Victoria Wulsin (pictured) from USA - Immunization Practices in the USA: Successes, Challenges, and Lessons.
Professor Wulsin obtained her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University Cleveland (1980), and proceeded with her studies acquiring an MPH (1982) and a DrPH (1985) in Epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health, Boston. Currently Prof. Wulsin is the Director of Preventive Medicine and Global Health, University Health Services, UC, Cincinnati, at the same time working at the mentioned University as a Professor of Family and Community Medicine. In addition to her work at Cincinnati University, Prof. Wulsin is responsible for establishing and leading SOTENI Kenya, a non-governmental organisation, with four rural community-based organisations committed to sustainable development and breaking the cycle of disease and poverty, especially focusing on AIDS/HIV.
During her career Prof. Wulsin has published several highly prized articles in refereed journals, as well as training manuals for future specialists. In addition, she is the co-author of three books: Infectious Disease: Policy, Law, and Regulation (2015), Epidemiology for Non-Epidemiologists (1992) and Introduction to Occupational Epidemiology (1992).
For her contribution to Public health and Epidemiology Prof. Wulsin has received several highly prestigious awards, including the Martin Luther King Award in 1971.
Every student, graduate medical trainee, or representative of an academic or scientific field interested in the above mentioned subject matter is more than welcome to attend the guest lecture on 17 September between 15:00–16:30 in the Hippocrates lecture-theatre at 16 Dzirciema Iela.
