The 2019 Psychology Days will take place in October, and Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will be organising several events. On 4 October PhD Antanas Kairys will give a guest lecture 'Time perspective: theory and research' in the RSU Department of Health Psychology and Paedagogy on 5 J.Asara Iela.

Time is a very important concept in almost every field of science. In psychology, we analyse various aspects of a subjective experience of time as many domains of personality functioning have a temporal aspect, for example: memories, hopes, identity, goals. Among the phenomena related to the subjective experience of time the concept of time perspective received much attention. Finding its roots in theory of Kurt Lewin and popularised by Philip Zimbardo, the theory of time perspective is currently an active and interesting field of study. This presentation will summarise the key points of time perspective theory, such as the nature of time perspective, time perspective dimensionality and the idea of balanced time perspective. In the second part of the presentation, issues of how to measure time perspective will be discussed. During the last part of talk, a review of key findings of some empirical studies will be presented.
