The RSU Department of Health Management at the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare invites students, graduate medical trainees, academic and research staff to the guest lecture 'Application of Health Economic tools in Dutch health system' by Prof. Dr. Wim Groot from the Netherlands. The lecture will take place on Friday, 11 October and will cover topics related to healthcare organisation, funding and efficiency in the Netherlands.
About the Professor
Professor Wim Groot studied at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he obtained a Master’s Degree (1986) and a PhD Degree in Economics (1992). Currently Prof. Groot is professor of Health Economics at the Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences, a professor of Evidence Based Education at the Faculty of Science and Engineering and also the Scientific Director TIER/TA at Maastricht University, as well as the Professor of Evidence Based Education and Labor Market Policy at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Amsterdam. In addition to his work he is a member of the board of governance of the Dutch Patient Federation, chairman of the NWO-Vidi committee "Economie an Bedrijfskunde", chairman of the expert panel of the National Federation of Cancer Patient Organizations.
During his career he has been a consultant for various ministries in the Netherlands and for several organisations, including the World Bank. Groot has published more than 300 papers in international scientific journals and has successfully supervised 35 PhD students.
