Objective

To enable students of legal specialty to acquire basic knowledge of the European Union (EU) law and its application.

Prerequisites

General secondary education, Constitutional Law, Legal Theory, Administrative Law.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Describes the historical development of EU law, illustrates the interaction of EU law with the national law of EU Member States, demonstrates knowledge of the EU institutional framework, sources of law and the role of the single market in the EU.

Skills

The student analyses EU laws and regulations, orientates oneself in the hierarchy thereof, uses the acquired theoretical knowledge in solving legal cases, analysing laws and regulations, applying legal research and interpretation methods. Skills are tested in group work and mock debate.

Competence

Uses EU case law, independently applies sources of EU law to resolve various conflict situations, uses knowledge of the EU law to substantiate their views in debates and discussions.
