Objective

The objective is to improve the knowledge about consistent patterns of human psychic functioning and the interaction of psychic and somatic processes.

Prerequisites

An understanding of dual nature of psychic processes, pertaining to both nature science and humanitarian science.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will be able to: analyze the role of psychic factors in case of somatic disease; evaluate the psychodynamic aspects of pharmacological therapy; describe the etiopathogenesis of psychosomatic disorders and diseases; define and discuss the basic principles of communication.

Skills

Students will be able to: briefly describe the etiopathogenesis in a case of a psychosomatic disease, explain the possibilities of use of the placebo effect; demonstrate the basic elements of therapeutic communication.

Competence

Students will be able to analyze the role of biological, emotional, and social factors in etiology and pathogenesis of the disease.
