Objective

Aim of the cycle is to achieve basic understanding of the nature of urological diseases, clinical representation, diagnostic data interpretation, principles of pharmaceutical treatment and prophylaxis.

Prerequisites

Basics of a human anathomy, physiology and pathology, microbiology, pharmacology and health care organisation.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On successful completion of the course student will gain knowledge that will allow to understand:
• the etiology of urological disease, pathogenesis, prevention;
• the clinical picture of the disease and its complications;
• modern clinical, laboratory and instrumental methods of patient investigation results;
• and analyse the pharmaceutical methods of treatment, their selection criteria.

Skills

On successful completion of the course student will be able to:
• understand and analyse the urological patients according to the findings of the investigation;
• interpret laboratory and instrumental methods of investigation data;
• understand the clinical diagnosis and together with a doctor student will be able to create a drug treatment plan and follow its results;
• monitor drug therapy of a chronic urological patients and identify if adjustments or extra evaluation is needed;
• inform patients about urological disease prevention abilities.

Competence

On completion of the study course students will be able to:
• identify individual urologic patient medical treatment plan in collaboration with health professionals;
• evaluate drug treatment advantages and disadvantages, linking them to the patient's examination data;
• monitor the progress of drug therapy, evaluate the results and prepare the necessary information for other medical professionals.
