About Study Course
Objective
To get a basic idea of common diseases and injuries in the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery, treatment methods. To emphasise the importance of screening, post-operative care, care in case of the consequences of illness or injury, the basic principles of surgery, asepsis and antiseptics within the scope of one’s specialty.
Prerequisites
At the beginning of the study course (or semester of the study course), all tests provided for in the corresponding curriculum (D1 form) of the previous study semesters must be successfully completed.
Anatomy, physiology, histology.
Learning outcomes
Will be able to distinguish and name pain relief techniques and work planning, taking into account the patient’s age, general and local state of health, will be able to define the main diseases and injuries in the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery and treatment methods thereof.
Acquired knowledge about precancerous diseases, malignant tumors and complications of dental infection, as well as about treatment options.
Will be able to recognise anatomical or functional deviations of the mouth, face and jaws, which require a special professional approach, will be able to demonstrate preventive screening of the oral cavity.
They will be able to tell about pre-cancerous diseases in the mouth, the possibility of malignant tumors of the oral cavity and the complications of dental infections, their treatment options.
To be competent in the diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial diseases and injuries and the choice of treatment methods in ethical practice, following the relevant rules and restrictions while prescribing treatment or referring the patient to the respective specialist.
