Aim
1. To publish our previously unpublished research results obtained during a prior stage of the State Research Programme (SRP) in WebScience, Scopus databases and scientific journals, as well as to finalise the development of doctoral theses commenced during prior stages of the SRP.
2. To continue the research on sepsis indicators in children.
3. To carry out a feasibility study in the following fields: commence a study on the significance of blood proteins in detecting bacterial infections and forecasting the severity of the course of the disease in newborns; research on congenital CMV in newborns; investigate the habit of prescribing antibacterial treatments to children with infections during primary care and the impact of multifactorial interventions (new knowledge and point of care tests) on unjustified use of antibiotics in children in the outpatient stage; detect long-term survival within a 20-year period of patients with life-threatening infections treated at the Intensive Care Unit of Children’s Clinical University Hospital by searching data in the database containing the cause of death statistics in Latvia.
