Aim

The project goes beyond the state-of-the-art through developing and applying a Theory of Change methodology and Social Return on Investment framework to increase understanding of the value of cultural literacy through arts-based education on social cohesion.

Description

The project will be delivered through four main phases. First, it ‘maps’ arts-based education within the context of cultural literacy learning across different learning environments and over different stages of a young persons’ education and learning trajectory. Second, it  ‘evaluates’ arts-based education to help identify and assess their actual outputs and outcomes. Cultural literacy is considered as emergent as situated in particular social contexts. The main results will point to whether (or how) cultural literacy activities are effective in promoting social cohesion.

Work packages:

  1. Scoping value and theoretical framework for the project
  2. Identifying cultural literacies in Europe
  3. Mapping outputs of arts-based education
  4. Evaluating outcomes and the effectiveness of arts-based education
  5. Valuing impacts in arts-based education
  6. Pedagogy practices in arts-based education
  7. Communication, dissemination and exploitation
  8. Project management and coordination
