Objective

To ensure the acquisition and development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the understanding of pain syndrome mechanisms, evaluation and examination thereof.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The student demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the mechanisms of pain syndromes, evaluation and examination of pain that conform to the requirements of sub-speciality. The student defines clinical significance and manifestations of the functional disorders and co-morbid conditions caused by pain. The student interprets the results of clinical and instrumental examinations.

Skills

The student uses the skills of evaluating and diagnosing pain and functional disorders caused by pain in order to perform the professional functions of a qualified specialist in pain syndrome care and performs the manipulations provided for by the programme.

Competence

The student formulates and critically analyses pain syndrome, evaluates research trials in the area of fundamental and practical science on pain medicine, performs the required additional analysis, if the substantiation of a decision is required, demonstrates understanding and ethical responsibility on the results of professional activity of an algologist.
