Objective

Gain knowledge of the system of law enforcement institutions in Latvia, the content of their activities, principles competence and structural peculiarities.
Tasks:
1. Promote students’ understanding of the law enforcement institutions in Latvia, their system;
2. Enhance students’ understanding of regulatory enactments regulating the activities of these institutions;
3. Enhance students’ understanding of the structure of individual institutions, principles of operation, competence and powers of the officials.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The student has learned the system of law enforcement institutions in Latvia; the student has mastered the basis for regulatory enactments; the student has mastered the structure, operational principles and the competence of individual law enforcement institutions in Latvia; the student has learned the powers of the officials of the law enforcement institutions in Latvia.

Skills

Has a good knowledge of the system of law enforcement institutions in Latvia; the basis of regulatory enactments regulating the activities of law enforcement institutions in Latvia; the structure of individual law enforcement institutions in Latvia; authority of officials of law enforcement institutions in Latvia.

Competence

Able to independently find information about and assess the system of law enforcement institutions in Latvia, regulatory enactments regulating the activity of law enforcement institutions in Latvia, the structure, operational principles and competence of law enforcement institutions in Latvia and the authority of officials of law enforcement institutions in Latvia.
