Objective

Learn the basics of sociology of law, legal methodology and cognition of the application of law.

Prerequisites

Theory of Law, Philosophy of Law, History of Law.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Doctoral students will explain the essential elements of sociology of law, will know the functions, methods and forms. Will know the general theories of sociology of law. Will know the place and role of sociology of law among other legal sciences. Will be able to use elements of sociology of law in the development of doctoral thesis.

Skills

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to identify the main types of interaction between the individual and society, and to describe their rationality and conditionality. Will be able to apply the knowledge used in the study course in the work of a practical lawyer, including the development of a doctoral thesis, obtaining, analyzing and interpreting the research results. Will be able to solve legal problems independently, using sources of sociology of law and knowledge of their application. Prepare and express the necessary application of sociology of law in professional work.

Competence

The student will be able to carry out independent research, correctly describing it on the basis of the acquired knowledge. Will define the areas of law, in which sociology of law is to be applied. Will clarify situations in a professional way and create elements of solution in integration of the society. Will be able to formulate social institutes, to separate them from philosophy and mass culture. Together with the relevant professionals, will develop the traditions of law and their practical application in a single perspective of sociology of law.
