Objective

Achieve understanding about the management of quality of patient care and the significance of the patient care documentation for nurses on the process of health care. Develop skills in writing and developing health care documentation which is based on the current scientific proof and meets the requirements of international standards of quality.

Knowledge

Acquired knowledge after the student has completed the course:
Level of comprehension: Human factors that influence patient security. Influence of the system on patient security. Clinical risks and management.
Level of use: Quality of patient care, principles of patient security.Infection control and prevention. Safe management of medication. The risks of invasive procedures in the context of patient security. Processes of standardization. Professional guidelines and recommendations. Clinical standards and guidelines. Clinical audits. Processes and meaning of systems of quality. System of healthcare. Patient/client satisfaction. Quality of the patient care practice.

Skills

Have the ability to perform data analysis, summarize and be able to express their own opinion about scientific theories. Be able to draw conclusions about the written course work.
Understand and maintain the basic principles of patient security, influence of human factors on patient security and the influence of healthcare systems on patient security when developing the documentation of patient care. Understand clinical risks and use of methods for improving patient care. Understand procedures for infection control and prevention, risks of invasive procedures, risks of administering medication in the context of patient security. Cooperate in the development and implementation of recommendations for professional guidelines and processes of quality assurance. Participate in the development, implementation and improvement of systems for patient care. Participate in implementation of innovations. Improve nurses' practice.
