Objective

To raise awareness of contemporary theories of personality; to develop the apprehension of the link between personality factors and health and of our inner resources; to improve students’ stress coping and emotion regulation skills.

Not required.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students understand and are able to describe contemporary theories of personality, temperament, genetic and biological basics of personality, link between personality factors and health, including health promoting and threatening behaviour.

Skills

Students explain the key concepts of personality and health behaviour; use the acquired knowledge for own health promotion and strenghtening, enhancing inner psychological resources.

Competence

Students can perform a critical analysis of scientific research in the field of health psychology and can solve problems associated with psychological aspects of health prevention, maintenance and recovery issues; they can use their knowledge of personality psychology for the deeper analysis of specific problems. Students apply acquired knowledge in everyday life in order to better understand one selves and others, and in order to enhance one’s and other peoples' (for example patients) subjective well-being.
