Toxicological Chemistry (FKK_012)
About Study Course
Objective
• to promote the acquisition of knowledge on the main methods of analysis for the determination of toxic substances in biological objects
• to promote awareness of the possibilities of chemical and physico-chemical analysis methods in toxicological analysis
• to master the types of tasks of the issues included in the course and the methodology of their solution
Prerequisites
Inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry, human anatomy, physiology and pathology.
Learning outcomes
After completing the study course, students will be able to:
• evaluate the objects to be used in the toxicological analysis;
• present the theoretical basis of the methods used in the analysis;
• understand and interpret analytical methodologies available in the literature.
As a result of mastering the study course students:
• will be able to isolate different types (volatile, organic, non-volatile, metal-containing) toxicants from biological objects;
• will be able to use chromatographic, spectroscopic methods and chromogenic reactions in an experiment to detect the most well-known toxicants;
• will be able to apply toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics to the interpretation of the results of legality analyses.
As a result of the study course, students will be able to isolate the most well-known toxicants from biological objects, analyse and interpret the results.
