Objective

To develop and deepen the understanding of the activities of non-governmental organizations and their contribution to the positioning of various social issues and protection of rights, and their contribution to the provision of social services.

Prerequisites

Preliminary knowledge in gerontological social work, psychiatry and narcology, and in practical traumatology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Understanding of non-governmental organizations in the protection of the interests of different social groups, their experience and influence in the social field; understanding of the legal regulation of the activities of Associations and Foundations in Latvia.

Skills

The ability to evaluate NGOs as a resource in providing social services to various social groups; the ability to establish two-way professional communication with stakeholders in the provision and reception of services in society, using dialogue and debate formats.

Competence

Ability to evaluate the content of services provided by NGOs and their compliance with the needs of society and the contribution of NGOs in the development of social services policy.
