Objective

The objective of the study course is to provide students with an understanding of the foundations of the law of the Republic of Latvia (national law, civil law, criminal law, administrative law), to introduce students to the meaning of law, nature and objectives thereof, theories of origin and sources, as well as the possibilities of application.

Not necessary.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Will define the concepts of state and law, sources of law, describe the legal system and legal relations, know information about the main legislative acts of the Republic of Latvia, contracts, types thereof and obligations of the parties, judicial deals.

Skills

Will be familiar with the main legislative acts of the Republic of Latvia, will be able to translate and interpret the provisions of the Administrative Violations Code, will be able to apply certain legislative acts to solve a specific legal problem and to substantiate the applicability of the chosen legislative acts.

Competence

Will be able to prepare the documents necessary for commencing administrative procedure.
