About Study Course
Objective
The study course imparts the knowledge and skills in managerial epidemiology.
Prerequisites
Basics in causal philosophy;
Basics in probability theory and mathematical statistics;
Prior knowledge of human physiology and basic principles of disease diagnosis;
English language.

- define health;
- to list the categories of health determinants;
- to name the principles on which the health impact pyramid is based;
- formulate principles for the assessment of health-related events and conditions;
- to define the concepts of health, disease, illness, and sickness;
- classify and describe disease prevention levels;
- to formulate disease screening within the secondary disease prevention;
- identify the preconditions for disease screening for disease, testing, and treatment;
- name the measures of diagnostic tests;
- to identify mortality indicators;
- formulate the principles of evidence-based medicine;
- to classify the main designs of epidemiological studies;
- name the measures of the associations;
- define the concepts of confounding and bias in research.

- explain the differences between the different mortality indicators used;
- distinguish between disease prevention strategies and levels;
- differentiate between causal and non-causal factor associations and health events;
- calculate basic epidemiological indicators;

- to evaluate the validity of epidemiological studies according to the study design.
