About Study Course
Objective
The learning of the study course "Municipal Law" will allow students to study the most significant elements of the local government system and the legal framework for their activities, as well as to find out the current trends of local government genesis and their democratisation, as well as case-law on issues related to local governments.
Prerequisites
Introduction to Civil Law, Logic, Administrative Law, Administrative Process, Practical Communication.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the study course, students will have acquired and will use their knowledge of the concept and system of local government rights, the origin and development of local governments, the competence of local governments, the structure and functions of institutions, decision-making procedures, monitoring of activities, interaction between the society and local government.
Students will study not only theoretical knowledge of the most important issues of the municipal law, but also will apply their acquired knowledge of solving practical cases, which are related both to the development of a local government decision and its legal analysis, and of analysing the court practice. Students will be able to use the theoretical knowledge successfully acquired in the study course in practice, for example, when starting the work of a lawyer in municipalities.
On completion of the study course, students are able to organise the resolution of legal issues within the competence of the municipality, to prepare draft decisions and other documents, to evaluate the legality of the legal documents in circulation in the municipality.
