Objective

Raise students' understanding of meso and macro-level social work, activities that describe levels of practice, assessment of community and society needs, problem identification, solution planning; enhance understanding of international social work.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Upon the completion of the study course, the student will be able to:
• describe the concept of community;
• name and describe the division of communities;
• name macro-level activities;
• explain the ways of influencing decision makers;
• justify and plan the necessary levels of intervention;
• describe international social work.

Skills

Will be able to define the concept of community and name the division of communities; will be able to analyse the ways of influencing decision makers and choose the most appropriate one for the solution of the social problem; will be able to describe macro social work and its activities; will be able to name national and international institutions that participate in the development of social policy; will be able to describe characteristic features of international social work; will be able to select information sources characterising the provision of social services and social help at meso and macro level.

Competence

Competence to research and evaluate social problems analytically, to define problems and to identify priorities, to model problem solutions and their evaluation and to identify the necessity for social changes. Knowledge of current social and political processes.
