About Study Course
Objective
To raise awareness of cultural diversity in today’s society, of cultural determinants of human behaviour and related social problems, of the practical importance of understanding cultural diversity in social work practices.
Prerequisites
Introduction to Social Work.
Learning outcomes
As a result of mastering the study course, the student gains understanding and will be able to explain concepts and categories of culture, elements of culture; able to characterise violence in the intercultural context, social problems in the context of multicultural society, conflicts in the intercultural context, work with refugees and asylum seekers.
As a result of mastering the study course, students will know how to observe and identify the link between culture and social problems, to explain the role of lifestyle in the development of social problems, to describe the intercultural competence a social worker needs.
Will be able to demonstrate tolerance to the “different” in professional communication with the client, to perform a cultural explanatory function when solving social problems.
