Basic Principles of Infection Prevention and Control in Health Care (MDAK_312)
About Study Course
Objective
To promote the acquisition of knowledge and development of understanding of healthcare-acquired infections, to strengthen students’ understanding and interest in research in this field, to provide students with an idea of the existing research and innovations in the prevention of healthcare-acquired infections.
Prerequisites
Anatomy, microbiology with virusology and parasitology, histology.
Learning outcomes
Will know the basic issues of epidemiology. Will know the basics of specific and non-specific prevention of infectious diseases, infection control methods and application and provision thereof in outpatient and inpatient health care, will know the principles and solutions of the anti-epidemic regime.
Will be able to interpret policy documents supporting infection control. Will acquire the following skills: to wash hands with soap and water, perform hygienic hand disinfection (with an alcohol-based product), perform surgical hand disinfection, put on and take off personal protective equipment.
As a result of completing the study course, students develop competence: the ability to successfully operate in the context of infection control, integrating and using skills, knowledge and attitudes appropriate to the situation.
