Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the respiratory system. Methods of physical examination of the respiratory system. Methods of radiological examination in the diagnosis of lung diseases. Pharmacology of the respiratory system.
Objective:
Acquire deeper knowledge of relevant topics, learn how to evaluate patients with lung pathology, evaluate the characteristics of the pathology involved and the treatment options for individual patients at different stages of treatment.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Individual work with medical literature, with a patient – history collection, interpretation of examinations, preparation of a treatment plan, formulation of a possible diagnosis. We invite you to fill in and complete the questionnaire about the study course. The answers given are anonymous. We would like to ask you to formulate what was positive, useful and what helped you to understand the topics of our study course better. Share your thoughts about that knowledge and skills you have gained and improved as well as structured suggestions for further improvement of the study course.
Assessment Criteria:
Answers to test questions of each class are assessed. At the end of the study course, a centralized computed examination consisting of two parts: 1) 50 multiple-choice questions; 2) 4 clinical cases.
Final Examination (Full-Time):Exam
Final Examination (Part-Time):
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Upon completion of the study course, students will have acquired knowledge of pulmonary diseases, so that they are able to assess these diseases, differentiate them from other diseases and provide adequate treatment on the basis of the latest findings in medicine.
Skills:Upon completion of the study course, students will be able to (based on the medical history, objective findings, laboratory tests and additional examination results) understand and diagnose the aforementioned pulmonary diseases, assess their severity and variety, and prescribe appropriate treatment for a particular patient.
Competencies:The expertise acquired through studies will enable students analyse current medical problems in respiratory diseases independently, rationally use additional examination methods, analyse clinical cases, demonstrate individual attitude towards the patient and justify the chosen treatment.
