Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Introduction to Civil Law, Legal Theory, History of Latvian Law, Logic, Administrative Law.
Objective:
To provide students with basic knowledge of the essence and development of commercial law, methodology of application and interpretation of the provisions of commercial law.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Independent preparation of written assignments according to the topics and requirements determined in the classes, independent study of the specified legal literature and study placement materials, independent preparation of a presentation on a current issue related to commercial law. Presentation topics are agreed upon at the beginning of the course. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
Assessment Criteria:
Exam: 25%, independent learning: 25%, work during classes: 25%, two independent written works: 25%.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Students demonstrate knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of commercial law, orientate themselves in commercial law and related laws and regulations.
Skills:Students are able to draw up documents independently related to founding, reorganisation, winding up of commercial companies and conclusion of commercial transactions, using the theoretical basics acquired.
Competencies:Students are able to draw up commercial law contracts, prepare documents in the field of commercial law, orientate themselves in the commercial register, are able to read and interpret information about economic operators available in the registers.
