Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Knowledge of ethics is required.
Objective:
Introduce students to the legislation and jurisprudence of patients' rights and issues of protection of the rights. To develop the skills to use a wide range of legal norms, to identify problems and to find the solving issues, as well as to propose the legal solutions and to give theoretical understanding of patient rights issues.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Preparation and solving of independent written assignments (including case law) according to the topics and requirements set in the classes, Independent study of the legal literature and practice materials, analysis and creation of legal documents and test.
Assessment Criteria:
Active participation in lectures and participation in course assessment questionnaire - 25%, timely, qualitative and 100% completed written homework - 25%. Written exam - 50%.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Students will have basic knowledge of current legal issues in the field of patients' rights. Students will be able to use the acquired knowledge as a basis for further research in law studies or in health care practice. Students will be able to incorporate and summarize knowledge of different branches of law in the field of health and medical law, as well as contribute to the creation of new knowledge, research and professional activities.
Skills:As a result of the study students are able to identify legal problems in the field of legal relationships between a patient and medical practitioners. Students are able to apply the relevant legal norms in solving specific legal situations, prepare procedural documents, analyze problematic issues and give them independent and motivated assessment, propose a solution of the situation. Know what kind of legal regulations regulates patients 'rights and obligations, what is the mechanism for protecting patients' rights.
Competencies:Students are able independently analyze and identify problem areas in the field of patient rights. May apply current sources of law in the field of patients' rights, independently obtain, select and analyze the necessary information on a specific legal issue, as well as carry out theoretical and practical analysis and research. Students are able to apply knowledge and skills in professional activities, independently improve their qualification, to analyze legal information on patients 'rights, to make proposals for improvement of legal regulation, to identify and analyze current issues in the field of patients' rights.
