Preliminary Knowledge: | Knowledge, skills and abilities in the sector-specific courses of the professional Bachelor’s programme “Sports Science” – pedagogy, psychology, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, foundations and didactics of athletic disciplines, recreation PIQ courses and C courses in the years of studies I, II, III. | ||||||||
Objective: | To enable students to master the qualification of a recreation specialist who can strategically and analytically formulate at professional level the nature, objectives and functions of recreation on the basis of historical development of society, the social and economic potential of recreational activities, the quality of life of the population, the recreation policy in the country and the world. | ||||||||

Knowledge: | 1. To strategically and analytically formulate at professional level the nature, objectives and functions of recreation on the basis of historical development of society, the social and economic potential of recreational activities, the quality of life of the population, the recreation policy and laws and regulation in the country, Europe and the world. 2. Interaction of recreation and the recreation process with other branches of science, the benefits of recreation in physical, emotional and mental recovery, improving health. 3. Description of recreational activities, their needs, accessibility and motivating factors for choosing, according to gender and age. 4. Latvian and European initiatives in the field of recreation (laws and regulations for promoting public physical activity, health and sports, tourism, environmental protection, use of cultural and historical resources, business). 5. Recreative resources. Synergy between recreation and tourism, recreational and tourism resources. 6. Natural, cultural and historical resources. Capacity, sustainability and availability of resources. 7. Recreational activity venues, recreative resources in Latvia and the EU, in the world. 8. Specifics of the activities and professional ethics of a recreation specialist. | ||||||||
Skills: | 1. Ability to justify the nature of recreation and the use of recreative resources in mental, emotional and physical recovery, health improvement. 2. Independently uses knowledge and skills in selective recreative resources for appropriate recreational activities and to customer’s needs and abilities. 3. Ability to justify the nature, need and benefits of recreation, the physical mental and emotional recovery of a person. 4. Ability to assess qualitative and quantitative aspects of natural resources/objects according to recreation needs. 5. Ability to carry out creative and innovative professional and research activity using theoretically learned foundations and resources of recreation. | ||||||||
