Preliminary Knowledge: | General secondary education | ||||||||
Objective: | To acquire basic knowledge of ecology – in terms of the biological environment and social system. To provide students with basic knowledge regarding the organisation and operation of civil protection structures in Latvia. To familiarise students with the basic principles of work in case of emergency, their methodology – duties, tasks, rights for different CP structures, as well as the methodology for preventing emergencies. To familiarise students with the Law of the Republic of Latvia on CP in Latvia. | ||||||||

Assessment Criteria: | Assessment criteria of learning outcomes: 1. Purposeful activity in seminars and practical classes – 30%. 2. Independent work performed by the student when preparing for practical management of study activities and other examinations – 50%. 3. Tests of acquired knowledge and skills – 20%. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | 1. On intrinsic dangerous consequences of the impact of the national economy on the environment, principles for the operation of CP structures in emergency situations, the methodology for (forecasting and evaluating, and organising) the operation of an economic site to reduce its danger. 2. Latvian CP structures, their rights and obligations and the norms provided for by law. | ||||||||
Skills: | 3. Will be able to compare, evaluate and analyse the correlations between the processes covered by the study course. Will be able to take adequate action in case of disasters and emergencies. | ||||||||
Competencies: | 4. Will be able to make the right decisions (within the scope of his/her rights and obligations) in case of disasters and emergencies. Will be able to actively engage in class discussions. 5. Able to identify security hazards and risks in different environments and situations, take preventive safety measures, choosing the most appropriate problem-solving strategies. | ||||||||
