Preliminary Knowledge: | Good knowledge in anatomy and physiology, first aid, medical terminology, neurology and radiology. | ||||||||
Objective: | To ensure students with theoretical and practical education needed in Orthotics - prosthetics specialist's work with people with locomotor apparatus diseases, acquired or congenital deformities and consequences of injuries. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | On independently acquired study material, a student prepares summaries and reports, and presents it during the seminar, after which there are discussion and exchanging opinions about the topic. The task of the independent work is to acquire skill to work with medical literature, compare and evaluate theoretical information application possibilities in practical work. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Student knowledge in theoretical and practical field is evaluated by a lecturer in every lecture or practical lesson. To finish this learning cycle students are writing the test. The tests contains analysis of a clinical case, physical examination, working diagnosis, etc. To get a positive evaluation at the end of the study course and exam the lecturer evaluates: • attitude to study process (10%); • development dynamics (10%); • active work in practical lessons (30%); • student's individual work (20%); • the final exam(30%). | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Students will gain knowledge about most common orthopedics diseases, the clinical manifestations, diagnostic and treatment principles, potential rehabilitation options and how to implement them. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students will learn the skill to: • investigate patients with locomotor apparatus diseases or their consequences; • draw up the prosthetics - orthotics plan; • orientate in radiological investigations. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students will be able to evaluate the patient's overall condition, orthopedic problems and arrange them in order of priority. Students will have knowledge about main treatment and rehabilitation principles of every orthopedic pathology. | ||||||||
