Preliminary Knowledge: | Communication and language development, assessment of early development. Speech sound disorders of various origins, course paper. Language disorders in children. Sign language. | ||||||||
Objective: | To acquire and improve practical skills in working with children who have communication and language/speech disorders of various etiologies (hearing, maxillofacial deformities, developmental, functional, etc.). | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Work with literature on various topics. Preparation for communication, language/speech therapy classes. Preparation and defense of one Clinical Case presentation at the end of the Clinical Practice. Creation of reference materials, according to the set goals of therapy. Creating a portfolio. Preparation of materials within the framework of oral and written language prevention. Development of telerehabilitation skills, preparation for service provision. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Placement report - in the 5th semester. Placement defense - 6 per semester. Cumulative grade - the sum of the grades of both semesters. Cumulative assessment consists of: Clinical placement report and Clinical Placement defense (5th and 6th semesters) - 60%; Placement report folder (Portfolio) grade (5th and 6th semesters) - 20%; Clinical case analysis and presentation (5th and 6th semesters) - 20%. 5th semester: Placement report folder (Portfolio) must be submitted. 6th semester: Placement report folder (Portfolio) and Clinical case analysis must be submitted. A clinical case must be presented and defended. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | • Will list communication and language/speech disorders of various aetiologies in children; • Will classify types of communication and language/speech disorders in children; • Will describe the types of learning disorders; • Will list possible types of therapy in cases of communication and speech/language disorders. | ||||||||
Skills: | • Will demonstrate communication and language/speech, voice assessment for children; • Will perform an analysis of the disturbance; • Will plan the necessary communication, language/speech, voice therapy; • Will implement the planned therapy; • Will consult on communication, language/speech, voice prevention, development and rehabilitation opportunities. | ||||||||
Competencies: | • Will systematise the obtained anamnesis and assessment data on communication and language/speech disorders of various aetiologies in children; • Will interpret the obtained anamnesis and assessment data, plan and carry out the necessary therapy within the limits of one’s competence. | ||||||||
