Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Students need knowledge about the chosen research topic, the setting of basic research settings, research methods, planning of the research, theories of politics and international relations, creating a bibliography and knowledge of the research topic. Study and course papers should be defended.
Objective:
The objective of the Bachelor’s thesis is to assess the student’s readiness to independently use the acquired knowledge and skills in solving research and professional problems.
Assessment
Unaided Work:
The development of a Bachelor’s thesis takes place in accordance with the work plan developed by the Department of Political Science, in which the tasks to be performed and the deadline are specified. The development of a Bachelor’s thesis is organised as follows: 1) selection of a topic for the Bachelor’s thesis and approval by the supervisor, 2) development and defence of the Bachelor’s thesis, 3) methodological seminar on a Bachelor’s thesis, 4) submission of the first version of the Bachelor’s thesis, 5) pre-defence of the Bachelor’s thesis, 6) submission of a draft of the Bachelor’s thesis, 7) submission of the final version of the Bachelor’s thesis, 8) defence of the Bachelor’s thesis. At the beginning of each semester, information on the deadlines for the completion of the Bachelor’s thesis tasks is available at the Department of Political Science.
Assessment Criteria:
The Bachelor’s thesis is assessed by the Bachelor’s Thesis Assessment Commission, taking into account the conformity of the Bachelor’s thesis with the requirements of the Bachelor’s thesis, the progress of defence of the paper, reviewer’s review and assessment of the Bachelor’s thesis by the paper supervisor and cooperation with the student. Bachelor’s thesis is assessed on a 10-point grading scale.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:During the development of the Bachelor’s thesis, students supplement knowledge on the development, methodology of research and matters related to the topic of the Bachelor’s thesis.
Skills:Students master skills of performing independent scientific research, as well as complement their presentation skills in pre-defence and defence of abstracts.
Competencies:In the course of development and defence of the Bachelor’s thesis, students acquire competence on how to practically apply theoretical and methodological knowledge for scientific research, as well as complement their competence in topics of the research.
