Preliminary Knowledge:
Basics of Economics (desirable).
Objective:
To learn the theoretical basis of pharmacoeconomics and the practical application of its methods for the economic analysis of medicinal products and the choice of cost-effective and evidence-based drug therapy. To promote students' understanding of basic public health issues and solutions to reduce the economic burden caused by the disease, as well as to promote the development of students' scientific, critical, systematic and analytical thinking.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
The student independently learns and searches the literature suggested, performs basic evaluation and analysis of data, prepares a comparison of different types of medicinal therapy, performs clinical and economic evaluation, calculates the cost-effectiveness indicators of pharmaceuticals In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
Assessment Criteria:
20% independent work during classes 80% defence and presentation of individual assignment

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:• The essence and application of pharmacoeconomics. • Methods of economic analysis. • Opportunities, advantages and disadvantages ofclinical trial data • Clinical efficacy of medicines. • Cost categories and breakdown. • The concept of cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals and calculation methods. • Principles and application of economic modeling.
Skills:• Apply the methods of pharmacoeconomics. • Critically assess the publications of clinical trials of pharmaceuticals. • Assess the level of evidence for decisions on the choice of alternative treatments. • Assess and calculate the costs of medicinal therapy. • Select the appropriate method of pharmacoeconomics. • Calculate and assess the cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals.
Competencies:• Develop rational pharmacotherapy-based health policy • Identify the objectives of drug policy both at system and medical institution level • Determine rational and cost-effective pharmaceutical prescribing and consumption principles • Promote the provision of cost-effective health care services
