Objective: | To develop the English language skills required for study, further career development and medical research by seeking information, conducting research, preparing reports and articles, and presenting research findings. | ||||||||

Assessment Criteria: | Attendance of classes, active participation in practical classes, timely and high quality written homework, quality of oral answers, theoretical research on the chosen topic in written form, presentations according to the chosen research topic, test – testing of the acquired theoretical knowledge, conception and practical application content. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | On successfully completing the study course, the student will: • recognize and distinguish between the different types of English text used in the medical profession and in research; • will be familiar with the English language and the terminology used in written and oral communication in professional and research activities; • will know the structure of the study written and oral report; • will distinguish between different types of oral communication and know their specifics. | ||||||||
Skills: | Upon successful completion of the study course the student will be able to: • obtain, select and systematize the medical information needed; • interpret, compare, analyze and summarize medical information from various sources, both verbal and written; • prepare the most commonly used medical records; • write a study report and a short article following the conventional structure and language rules; • present the results of the study orally; • present and conduct reasoned opinions in discussions, workshops and conferences. | ||||||||
Competencies: | As a result of successful completion of the course students will be able to use independently the acquired English language skills and terminology in both professional and research activities. | ||||||||
