The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology will be organising a discussion club online for the second time: Bleeding during early pregnancy, from normal to life-threatening. The discussion will be held online at 17:00, on 18 April, and will be led by Professor Kristina Gemzell Danielsson.

Students in any year of study and teachers who are interested in the treatment of gynaecological pathologies are invited to participate. There will be opportunity to address questions to Prof. Danielsson. The event will last 3x 45 minutes.

Topics covered in the discussion:

  • Is it normal to have bleeding in the first trimester?
  • How much bleeding is "normal" in early pregnancy?
  • What is life-threatening bleeding in early pregnancy?
  • What is the assessment and management of vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy?
  • What is the expected prognosis?

Please sign up in advance. Applications will be open until 11:00, 3 April.

About Prof. Danielsson

Prof. Kristina Gemzell Danielsson is the Head of the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institutet, and a senior consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Karolinska University Hospital. She is head of the research group at the WHO collaborating centre for research and research training in human reproduction and a member of the Nobel Assembly for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Prof. Danielsson is also on FIGO’s executive board, and past chair of the FIGO Committee on Human Rights, refugees, and violence against women.
