Glaucoma Awareness Day
World Glaucoma Week is held annually around the globe. The event is intended to draw the public’s attention to eye health, especially eye pressure. This year World Glaucoma Week takes place between 8-14 March. The ophthalmology interest group at RSU invites you to the main entrance of the RSU central building between 11:00-13:00 on Thursday 12 March to learn about the risks of glaucoma, test your colour vision and enjoy a fruit smoothie.
Glaucoma is a progressive eye condition that causes changes to the optic nerve that results in changes in the visual field. The most common symptom of the disease is increased eye pressure. Glaucoma is one of the major causes of blindness. This disease is most common in patients over 35 years of age. If symptoms are caught early, vision loss is almost always preventable.
