The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of European Studies, Department of International Business and Economics, International Business and Start-up Entrepreneurship (IBSE), cordially invites you to the guest lecture "The government's role in income distribution, fiscal policy, and fiscal discipline” by Jānis Platais, former Chairman of the Fiscal Council of the Republic of Latvia, and currently an independent Consultant for Public Financial Management.

About the lecturer: Jānis Platais (M.Sc.oec.) has extensive experience in public finance. He has more than 20 years’ experience doing consultancy work at the International Monetary Fund and at other international institutions. He was the Fiscal Council Chairman for six years and also the first State Minister for Budget of the re-established Republic of Latvia in the early 1990s. Currently Platais works as an independent Consultant for Public Financial Management working on assignments for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and their clients to assess public financial management systems and devise reform strategies.
