Preliminary Knowledge:
In biology, physiology and anatomy, biochemistry, clinical disciplines, pharmacology, psychology.
Objective:
To promote the acquisition of knowledge about the types of pain, mechanisms of occurrence and their pharmacotherapy options.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
The student independently acquires the literature offered in the study program, summarizes the obtained information. Prepares a clinical pharmacist's assessment of possible treatment and develops recommendations for the prevention of pain based on the acquired knowledge.
Assessment Criteria:
In order to successfully master the study course material and prepare for the final examination of the study course, the student performs the following activities – mandatory, not assessed with a mark, the execution of the assigned tasks with i / ni is recorded (completed or not completed): 1. Participation in practical classes. For each missed lesson – prepare a written presentation or, as far as possible, participate in another group's lesson on the topic of the missed lesson. 2. Solution and analysis of pharmacological care in several clinical cases in practical classes (i / ni). The final assessment of the course consists of: 50% – consists of a written exam – a multiple-choice test with 40 theoretical questions and 50% – attendance of practical classes and completed tasks.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Students will have acquired knowledge that allows: • understand the main mechanisms of pain; • understand the types and causes of pain and their biological significance; • know ways to assess pain
Skills:The student will be able to: • interview and assessment of pain patients; • choose the most appropriate type of therapy; • plan patient care at different stages.
Competencies:The student will be able to: • to advise healthcare professionals and patients on issues related to pain therapy; • in cooperation with medical practitioners, prescribe appropriate analgesic pharmacotherapy for an individual patient; • to monitor the pharmacotherapy of chronic pain; • Implement health promotion, prevention and early detection.
