Preliminary Knowledge: | Prior knowledge in ethics is desirable. | ||||||||
Objective: | To introduce medical engineers to the requirements of normative ethics, the specifics of professional and medical ethics, basic principles and application thereof in practice. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Students independently learn the chosen topic and are able to discuss, answer questions and encourage discussion, prepare presentations, learn primary and secondary literature. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Knowledge is assessed on a 10-point scale: * Academic performance in seminars – 20% (which includes 10% for the work in the seminar, 10% for the presentation); * Knowledge test (SRP) on lecture topics – 40%; * Knowledge test (SRP) on seminar topics – 40% | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | About the concepts of professional and medical ethics used in the course (person, autonomy, fairness, responsibility, basic principles of medical ethics, etc.), moral dilemmas and options for solving them. | ||||||||
Skills: | To organise one’s views on the topics of normative, professional and medical ethics learned in the course, use arguments from different directions of ethics; to analyse ethical dilemmas and specific cases, to discuss with arguments. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Analytical and critical thinking abilities – cognitive competence, as well as communicative competence acquired in the practical classes. | ||||||||
