Preliminary Knowledge:
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills, which are necessary for the service in the State Police and for the performance of the set practice tasks.
Objective:
The purpose of the internship is to acquire and improve theoretical knowledge and strengthen the practical skills required for service in the State Police. Tasks: 1. apply theoretical knowledge acquired during studies in practice; 2. be able to obtain, select and process the information necessary for the obtained qualification and service in the State Police; 3. to acquire and improve the practical skills required for service in the State Police.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Work with regulatory acts and literature sources, databases, etc.; information acquisition, selection and evaluation. Service duties to be performed independently, within the scope of practice tasks, assigned by the head of practice.
Assessment Criteria:
Completing the practice diary, submitting it to the faculty. Preparation of the internship report, in accordance with the internship tasks, in compliance with the methodological rules for the development, presentation and defense of research work of the Faculty of Law of Riga Stradiņš University, submission to the faculty. Receiving a positive assessment from the practice manager (practice manager assessment form). Successful defense of practice.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Acquires basic and specialized knowledge specific to the profession of a senior officer of the State Police; acquires a critical understanding of this knowledge, in order to fulfill the tasks of the profession.
Skills:Able to make decisions and find creative solutions in changing or uncertain conditions, in high stress and difficult service situations; acting promptly in situations of increased danger. Able to take responsibility and initiative, performing work individually or in a team in high stress and difficult service situations and taking responsibility for the decisions made. Able to formulate and analytically describe information, problems and solutions in the profession of a senior officer of the State Police, explain them and reasonedly discuss them, using the acquired theoretical foundations and skills. Can predict the development of the situation, choose the most effective and appropriate method for a quality solution. Can, using the acquired theoretical foundations and skills, perform professional activities in police work, identifying, researching and analyzing problem situations and offering possible solutions to problem situations.
Competencies:Will be able to evaluate the impact of one's professional activity on the environment and society in confrontation with the subject, in conflict resolution, in the use of various methods of force - psychological influence, use of physical force, use of special means, use of firearms, use of special tactics and methodology. Will be able to demonstrate that he understands professional ethics when working with colleagues and society. Will be able to independently obtain, select and analyze information and use it in police work, will be able to critically evaluate and check the obtained information. Will be able to participate in the development of the relevant professional field by conducting a detailed study of an existing problem in police work.
