Preliminary Knowledge: | Anatomy, physiology and pathology of the urogenital system, basics of propaedeutics. | ||||||||
Objective: | Students will acquire knowledge of urologic diseases, their aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnostics, principles of treatment and prevention. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Preparing of a presentation on diagnostics and treatment options for an urologic pathology. Tests in E-studies. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Attendance of classes and performance of assigned tasks (tests, analysis of clinical cases). Exam during the session – in the form of a multiple-choice test. The final result consists of 50% tests results during classes and 50% examination results. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: • list and describe urologic diseases, their aetiology and pathogenesis; • explain diagnostics, principles of treatment and prevention of urologic diseases; • describe up-to-date methods of clinical, laboratory and instrumental investigation; • discuss surgical treatment methods and their indications. | ||||||||
Skills: | On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: • collect complaints and anamnesis of urologic patients; • perform examination of a patient with a urologic disease using palpation, percussion and auscultation; • do urinary catheterisation on male and female (on moulage); • do rectal examination (on moulage). | ||||||||
Competencies: | On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: • analyse the data acquired during the urologic patient examination; • prepare necessary laboratory and instrumental investigation plan for the patient; • interpret the data acquired by laboratory and instrumental investigation methods; • formulate and justify a full clinical diagnosis; • define indications for surgical and conservative treatment. | ||||||||
