Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Normal anatomy, physiology, information literacy, clinical medicine, classical massage.
Objective:
To form an understanding of protection of the work environment and ergonomics, the role of occupational protection and ergonomics in maintaining health and practical applications.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Previous preparation for the topics of the respective class, work with study materials, special literature, online sources, analysing the relationship between ergonomics and human work capacity and state of health. Independent work (/presentation) on ergonomic principles in the work of a masseur, assessing ergonomic risks; working on situational tasks on different situations in the work of a masseur.
Assessment Criteria:
Mandatory attendance of lectures and classes. Students’ ability is assessed to describe the basic principles of ergonomics, their interrelationship with human work capacity and state of health; to explain the specifics of the work of a masseur; to identify problems in situational tasks. Successful completion of course tests, successfully passing the exam.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of completing the study course, students will know about the system of protection of the work environment and the need for ergonomics; will be able to name and explain the basic principles of ergonomics; work environment factors and person’s abilities that affect the performance of work; name and explain ergonomic principles in the work of a masseur, causes and consequences of possible functional disorders; describe the role of ergonomics in ensuring comprehensive health process and explain the effects of work risks on human work capacity and state of health.
Skills:As a result of completing the study course, students are able to: • identify the requirements of occupational protection, fire safety and environmental protection legislation in the workplace, and potential harmful factors in the working environment; • demonstrate the basic principles of ergonomics, analyse the constraints and resources associated with the job and the individual that affect work performance; • identify ergonomic problems in situational tasks.
Competencies:As a result of completing the study course, the student is able to apply ergonomic skills in everyday work and professional activities; identify problems and recognise risk factors.
