Preliminary Knowledge:
Study courses mastered: Teacher’s Professional Skills, Teaching and Learning in the Context of Diversity, Educational Psychology for Teachers, Management of Educational Institution, Business and Accounting, Civil Protection, State Security and Environmental Protection for Sustainable Development, Pedagogical Foundations in Adapted Physical Activities, Student-Centred Approach in Adapted Physical Activities, Assessment Methods in Adapted Physical Activities and/or Adapted Physical Activities for Students with Mental Development Disorders, APA for Students with Sensory Development Disorders, APA for Students with Behavioural, Learning Disorders and Autism.
Objective:
To create an understanding of the legal system of Latvia, basic concepts of certain sub-fields of law, protection of children’s rights and basic issues of labour rights in the activities of a teacher, as well as the organisation of documentation of the pedagogical process.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
1. Study of literature. 2. Studying legislation. 3. Research of a specific problem of Latvian law. 4. Analysis of case law. 5. Exact application and placement of details, creation of text according to the purpose of the document. 6. Learning about official notes, application thereof, according to the circulation of documents, control of enforcement. 7. Learning about document registration, control and information work. 8. Preparation for a test on the Record-keeping study course.
Assessment Criteria:
The student receives assessment by summing up the number of points, assessing knowledge, skills and competences in the performance of individual tasks (independent works, attitude, individual development dynamics). To receive a positive assessment in the study course, all independent work must be performed and a successful assessment must be obtained in the section of the study course “Basics of Law” and a successful assessment in the section of the study course “Record-keeping”, where the sum of positive achievements constitutes the assessment of the course and the total assessment must be at least 4. A student may receive 10 for additional individual work outside the programme, presenting excellent skills in the legal processes of the pedagogical process. Assessment in points in the section of the study course “Basics of Law”: – Productive activity during seminars – 20. 9. points – participates in the discussion, demonstrates knowledge in the question of the seminar. 14 points – participates in the discussion, demonstrates knowledge in the question of the seminar and substantiates personal opinion. 20 points – participates in the discussion, demonstrates knowledge in the question of the seminar and substantiates personal opinion, performs critical analysis of the problem. - Development of practical work – Fundamental matters of public law in case law – 15. 5 points – The work has been performed formally, no understanding of the work to be performed has developed. 10 points – The work has been performed in accordance with the requirements, but there are some shortcomings, inaccurate interpretation of the work task. 15 points – the student has fully understood the purpose of the work, fully fulfilled the work tasks and demonstrated the relevant skills. - Seminar – Labour Law – 10. - Practical work – Employment contract – 10 - Test – Understanding of law, purpose of the sector, law, legal system – 10. 4 points – half of the questions have been answered correctly. 6 points – two thirds of the questions have been answered correctly. 10 points – all questions have been answered correctly. - Test – Most important in public law – 10. - Test – Most important in family and children’s rights – 10. - Practical work – Analysis and presentation of court secrecy – 10 - Positive attitude to education – 3. - point – for each practical work and/or report submitted within a specified time period and meeting the requirements. CV - some minor shortcomings in the design requirements, incomplete information, spelling errors, does not correspond to the purpose of the document – 5 points - the document has been designed in accordance with the requirements, the content partly corresponds to the purpose of the document – 7 points - the document has been designed in accordance with the requirements, the content corresponds to its purpose – 8 points - the document has been designed in accordance with the requirements, there is all the necessary information, easy to read with highlights, the content corresponds to the purpose – 10 points. 4. Knowledge:Will know: 1. The legal system and legal norms of Latvia and their creation. 2. Family law and the protection of children’s rights. 3. Different types of legal responsibility. 4. System and terminology of labour law 5. Labour Law and related laws and regulations. 6. Social guarantee system in Latvia and aspects of labour protection. 7. Laws and regulations governing the documentation of the pedagogical process and the work with documents. 8. Circulation of documents within an organisation, filing of documents, the principles for drawing up a file nomenclature.
Skills:9. To independently analyse the legal aspects of employment and to communicate about them. 10. Is versed in the legal system of Latvia and the process of creation of legal norms. 11. To be able to establish legal employment relations in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia.
Competencies:12. To use practically the provisions of labour legislation when working or managing an institution, organisation or company in the field of education, sport or other, as well as to enter into and give a notice of termination of an employment contract in a legally correct way. 13. Able to draft and prepare pedagogical process and management documents.
