Preliminary Knowledge: | Knowledge, skills and competences necessary for the obtained teacher’s profession. Meets the requirements of Section 14 of Land Register Law of the Republic of Latvia (18-55 years, health, physical condition, knowledge of the official language, citizen of the Republic of Latvia). | ||||||||
Objective: | To acquire and strengthen basic professional (military) knowledge and skills for students, creating a view and understanding of the military environment, values and standards, military service challenges – physical, mental and emotional. To build students’ personal military experience on which to base their future activities as a national defence training teacher. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | To independently analyse information and apply it to the maintenance and use of military clothing and equipment, to organise and plan regular physical activities, to know how to balance regular meals and rest, to observe hygiene requirements in the military environment. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | This course provides the knowledge and skills of the professional qualification of a soldier at the level specified in the standards of the Armed Forces. The requirements for professional qualification determine: 1. The tasks that can be performed at the end of the study course. 2. Requirement levels – how well the task can be performed. The student acquires knowledge and skills until he/she reaches the requirements of professional qualifications. The differentiated assessment is irrelevant. In addition, the following is analysed: 1. Motivation of the student, which is evaluated according to individual cooperation and discussion with the teacher. Discussion on the understanding and practical application of military skills in the military environment. Understanding comprehensive state defence. Motivation, objectives and vision of their career as a national defence training (hereinafter referred to NDT) teacher. 2. Independent learning: physical activity in premises and on terrain, study of necessary literature, personal and environmental hygiene under military conditions. Assessment in the military basic training course: 3. Examination – Attendance of all classes, individual discussions with the commander, achievement of the objectives of classes and fulfilment of tasks at the basic level (professional qualification requirements have been acquired). 4. Examination – Justification and fulfilment of safety regulations. 5. Examination – Independent and responsible attitude regarding their education, regular and active participation in the study process. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | 1. Understands the military environment, values, standards, challenges and patterns, as well as will develop and strengthen understanding of comprehensive national defence. 2. Has knowledge about first aid and extended first aid, the ABC sequence and its application to save lives. 3. Knows military communication and protection from weapons of mass destruction. | ||||||||
Skills: | 4. To take basic actions with weapons in practical shooting and field combat skills. 5. To use military topography and orienteering skills both during the light and dark hours of the day. 6. To perform drill techniques and field combat skill elements, both individually and in a group. | ||||||||
Competencies: | 7. Able to demonstrate knowledge and technical skills specific to the military profession. 8. To strengthen the personal military experience. | ||||||||
