Preliminary Knowledge: | Obstetric emergencies; Primary resuscitation of newborns; Pathological and operative obstetrics; Medical emergency; Anesthesiology and resuscitation in obstetrics; Physiological childbirth and postnatal care (Postpartum management); The care process in midwifery practice; Clinical pharmacology and obstetric care; Clinical care in obstetrics and gynecology; Management of physiological pregnancies; Newborn feeding and lactation; Interpersonal communication in healthcare; General care; Infection control in care; Propaedeutics; Basics of clinical care. | ||||||||
Objective: | To prepare students for work in physiological obstetrics and work related to the provision of emergency and operative medical care for pregnant women, mothers, woman in postpartum period and newborns. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Completion of the practice diary, independent manipulation training at MITC. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | 100% attendance, duly completed and timely submitted documentation in e-studies, four successfully passed tests at MITC and practice defense (makes up 50% of the final grade), assessment of the practice supervisor (makes up 50% of the final grade). Students' active participation in classes will be evaluated (during remote classes, those classes are counted, during which the student is visible on camera and actively participates in class activities). | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | The student will be able to manage physiological childbirth and promote equality between a woman and her birth partner, describe the conditions of pregnant women, mothers, weekly babies and newborns, due to which urgent medical consultation and action is required. Will know how to take the necessary emergency in the absence of a doctor. | ||||||||
Skills: | The student will be able to provide appropriate care for a woman and a newborn in physiological childbirth, will promote the involvement of parents in the care of the newborn, will be able to prepare the mother for acute caesarean section, will assist the doctor in performing obstetric surgery also to prepare an instrument table for examination of the cervix and suturing of perineum ruptures, to prepare resuscitation equipment for the newborn. | ||||||||
Competencies: | The student is able to assist and provide assistance in emergency situations in obstetrics, using the acquired knowledge regarding the provision of emergency and emergency medical care to pregnant women, mothers, weekend women and newborns. Will be able to promote equality and involvement of the woman and the partner in the care of the newborn. | ||||||||
