Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | Work in small groups and individually. • In the classroom: a seminar on choice of the topic and formulation of the question, discussion. • Independent learning: Searching for scientific evidence, finding and drawing up a description. • In the classroom: Presentation of independently accomplished work. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
Assessment Criteria: | Cumulative assessment, which is formed during the course by preparing three (3) independent works according to the specified requirements, presenting them in classes and adding them to the created task in the e-study portal within a certain period. Evaluation criteria: 1. Evaluation is done with a mark in a 10-point system, where the lowest successful rating is 4 points. 2. Three presentations independently prepared and submitted (attached to the created task on the e-study portal) during the course. 3. In order to receive a successful (4-9 points) assessment of the written presentation of the permanent work at the end of the course, you must attend all classes (if the classes are organized remotely, the camera is turned off during the class and failure to answer the questions is considered truancy), you must complete the independent work during the course within the specified period and must contain the following points fully fulfilled: • Selection and description of the problem in the form of a table and justification using scientific sources of information, which are presented as references; • PICO formula and PICO question, according to the proposed problem; • Comparable interventions selected in the PICO formula are based on scientific information in the table; • Keywords related to PICO formulations (Latvian, English); • Description of the process of searching and finding evidence - used scientific databases; • Summary of evidence (Latvian) for four (4) scientific publications, which includes sufficient information about the author/s of the publication and title (original), year, purpose, conclusions; scientific publications from the evidence-based scientific databases subscribed to by RSU are considered evidence; • The answer to the PICO question is related to the patient, problem, selected interventions and their comparison; • The paper and references are designed according to the requirements - table format for the description of the problem, the used references are designed according to RSU methodological instructions (see bibliography), PICO formula, question, keywords, description of evidence and answer, uniform letter size and font are used, the work does not contain grammar and stylistic errors, scientific, medical terms and interventions explained. The final (exam) evaluation consists of: attendance - 5%, 1st PICO work - 25%, 2nd PICO work - 50%, independent work "Application of scientific results in practice" - 20%. In order to receive an excellent (10 points) assessment in the exam, the student must qualitatively and quantitatively fulfill the requirements in the performance of the work, demonstrate competence in the presentation of the problem, the collection of evidence and the answer: only the latest information from scientific publications must be used (from the evidence-based scientific databases subscribed to by RSU), the description of the problem must include appropriate information and accurately describe the compared interventions, accurately create the PICO formula, question and key words, explain medical terms, describe six (6) recent pieces of evidence, each of which contains useful information for the answer, answer the PICO question correctly and in a focused manner. The work must be designed in accordance with the above-mentioned requirements, it must be grammatically and stylistically appropriate in Latvian, except for the titles of publications, which do not need to be translated. If works are submitted later than the deadline, the grade is reduced by one point. If the work does not meet the specified criteria, the grade is reduced. Late classes must be made up individually by agreement with the lecturer. The student adds the completed independent work to the created task on the e-study portal within the deadline specified for the study course. The task is supported by the Turnitin program. Students agree that, as part of the course, all submitted work will be subject to a textual comparison with Turnitin.com to check that the submitted work is not plagiarized. All submitted articles will be listed as sources in the Turnitin.com reference database with one goal - to detect plagiarism. Use of Turnitin.com services is subject to the Usage Policy, which can be found on the Turnitin.com website.
