Preliminary Knowledge: | Fundamentals of human physiology and anatomy. | ||||||||
Objective: | To develop students' understanding and to promote basic knowledge of ergonomics as a science that studies human relationships with work, human-work interactions, health problems caused by ergonomic risks, preventive measures to prevent ergonomic risks. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | • independently study literature and handouts (30%); • participates in group work analyzing situation tasks related to ergonomic risk assessment (30%); • take a written test on the course (40%). In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Students work in class, successful preparation of final test paper on ergonomics in sport, defended by presentation and discussion. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to identify ergonomic risks in their workplace, analyze ergonomic risk assessment results, compare them in dynamics, compare identified problems in Latvia and worldwide, analyze the impact of ergonomic risks on work and quality of life. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students will be able to independently identify and evaluate ergonomic risks, their impact on humans, evaluate the results obtained and interpret the reliability of the data. Students will be able to evaluate the ergonomics and suitability of different sports equipment and equipment, choosing the best. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students will be able to identify the most appropriate and economically sound health promotion work activities to develop human resources potential, ensure health protection of employees and create a scientifically sound basis for the selection of necessary preventive measures in accordance with Latvian legislation and European Community directives, and present results and solutions at scientific and practical conferences. | ||||||||
