Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Interest in physical activities for healthy life. Motivation to learn how to properly practice nordic walking.
Objective:
To introduce students to the types of physical activity used for rehabilitation, fitness, and sports and to provide an opportunity to take part in Nordic Walking and Bungy Pump (Swedish Walking) workout, to improve physical condition of the body and to increase aerobic capacity.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Constant warm-up, stretching, preparation and demonstration of coordination exercises in the study group.
Assessment Criteria:
Test method: Evaluation of Nordic walking technique. Performing warm-up, coordination and warm-up (stretching) exercises with sticks. Ability to handle a heart rate monitor.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Upon succesful completion of the course the students will be able to: • describe the Nordic walking equipment: parameters of the sticks, clothing and footwear; • describe the levels of Nordic walking; • describe the techniques of Nordic walking; • explain how the cardiac monitoring is done during Nordic walking.
Skills:Upon succesful completion of the course the students will be able to: • choose appropriate Nordic walking equipment; • demonstrate a variety of Nordic walking techniques; • use special exercises with sticks during warm-up and cool-down phases; • use a heart rate monitor.
Competencies:Choice of competent equipment. Technique analysis, comparison and evaluation. Competence in technically correct demonstration of warm-up, stretching and coordination exercises.
