Unaided Work: | To acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in the use of physical exercise to improve health, participate in health sports, improve physical fitness and performance. Preparation of a programme of physical activity recommendations. Develop a programme of physical activity recommendations for one month for a specific person. Using aerobic, strength and flexibility exercises, specifying the person's age, sex, height, weight, BMI, physical activity, physical fitness, health status. List the main goals in order of importance that the person wants to achieve through exercise. A matrix prepared in the e-studio which helps the student to prepare and design the programme. Submitted during the semester. Acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and abilities in the use of physical exercise for health promotion, health sport, improving one's fitness and performance. Independently study various topics of the course according to the literature sources indicated by the lecturer in order to prepare for the theory test during the Session) and to develop a programme of physical activity recommendations (during the semester): 1. Physical activity recommendations for the Latvian population 2. Recommendations for promoting physical activity in the Latvian population (2019) 3. Sports Policy Guidelines 2021-2027 (only need to know the purpose and policies of the sports policy page 11) 4. Physical activity characteristics of seniors (pages 195-198) 5. Knowledge: | Students: outline the importance and application of physical exercise in health promotion, prevention of various diseases; talk about changes in physical activity and the latest fitness trends in recent years; identify the latest technologies in exercise intensity dosing; list and classify the types of exercises/workouts used in health sport; define the causes of obesity and their negative effects on the human body, the role of physical activity and exercise in the prevention of obesity; describe the specifics of physical activity for children, adolescents and young people, the characteristics of physical activity for seniors; describe physical activity in balance, aerobic, strength, interval, body weight, circuit and functional training, list the types of interval training. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students: explain the most appropriate exercises for health promotion and disease prevention; evaluate the role of the latest technologies in dosing exercise intensity to improve performance; explain the effectiveness of different health sports exercises; explain the role of exercise and the use of exercise in obesity prevention; explain the specifics of physical activity for children, young people and seniors; design a simple programme of physical activity recommendations for people of different ages, depending on health, fitness and goals, guided by the basic principles of health sports training; explain the nature of interval training. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Develops a programme of physical activity recommendations for clients of different ages, depending on health status, fitness and goals, using the basic principles of health sports training. Appreciate the need for health-promoting activities to improve their own health and fitness and will be competent in convincing the public of the need for and role of physical exercise in modern society. | ||||||||
