Assessment
Unaided Work:
Lecture outlines and summaries of lecture material. Preparing treatment plans for patients based on the clinical situation, the chosen treatment method and the patient's possibilities. Analysis of mistakes/possible mistakes made in clinical classes - creating a case report to avoid repeating these mistakes Analysis of suggested additional literature. At the end of the course of study, fill in the course evaluation questionnaire.
Assessment Criteria:
Assessment of clinical work during each practice class - oral comment and evaluation in % (more about evaluation in e-studies) on work done, analysis of mistakes made. Short tests about lecture material during 4th semester – evaluation: "Pass/fail".In order to obtain a passing grade, at least 75% of the tests on lecture topics must be completed. Semester test - must meet the requirements for obtaining a test (available in e-studies) – evaluation: "Pass/fail". Theoretical examination (written): 6th semester. Principles of evaluation are described un uploaded in e-studies Report about clinical work: 5th and 6th semesters.
Final Examination (Full-Time):Exam (Written)
Final Examination (Part-Time):
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:After successfully completing the course programme, the student will be able to: • describe the structure and function of dental hard tissues • describe the classification of dental hard tissue pathologies • define the role of local and general factors such as micro-organisms, carbohydrates, tooth-saliva interactions, fluoride, nutrition, socio-economic factors in the origin of caries and other dental hard tissue pathologies; • know the clinical manifestations of dental hard tissue pathologies and patient complaints • diagnose and differentiate between different dental hard tissue pathologies.
Skills:After successfully completing the course programme, the student will be able to: • select and apply the appropriate method and material for the treatment of caries and dental hard tissue pathologies, taking into account indications and contraindications; • diagnose different dental hard tissue pathologies • assess the condition and prognosis of the patient's dental hard tissues, caries activity and caries risk in different patient age groups • develop a treatment plan, integrating treatment into the overall oral health plan; • assess the results and prognosis of the treatment, the expected potential complications, develop the prevention of potential complications and, if necessary, modify the treatment plan. • provide recommendations for caries prevention in different age groups of patients, as well as in patients with different caries activity and concomitant diseases.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to evaluate, prevent and control caries and other dental hard tissue disorders, to explain their integration in oral health system and interaction with other oral disorders and general health.
